Our Mission
In a bid to take more action of our Corporate Social Responsibility, Summer Fresh has made continuous progress to reduce our ecological footprint. From our 360º approach, to our locally grown ingredients, we have made great efforts in the sustainability of our company to ensure our consumers receive the highest quality of food.
360º Approach
Aside from all health benefits from our products, the pulses are a big part of who we are; all purchased locally, which improves our local economy and environment. Farmers are able to rotate between lentils and chickpeas without overusing its soil. Additionally, pulses have the unique ability to make their own nitrogen through nodules on their roots, reducing the need for nitrogen fertilizer.
Local, All Natural Premium Ingredients
Canada is one of the largest pulse producers in the world, with over 80% of pulses grow locally that are consumed worldwide.
MADE WITH:
- LOCAL INGREDIENTS
- NATURAL INGREDIENTS
- SIMPLE INGREDIENTS
- CANADIAN PRIDE
Sustainability
With understanding the importance of sustainability, Summer Fresh has taken initiatives to bring this forward by reducing our plastic by 30%, investigating the use of water-soluble labels by 2023 and researching modular retail-ready outer cases to not only minimize packaging inventories but waste as well.
We believe that packaging should be specifically designed for the sales channel to reduce the use of valuable natural resources and to lower carbon footprint. Modular packaging with limited shapes and sizes that fit the product family can be palleted efficiently. This facilitates not just efficiencies at production level but is also a key factor in lowering shipping, handling and storage costs as well as reduces transport, storage, fuel, electricity, and other environmental impacts.
Sustainability Awards & Accolades
Summer Fresh was graciously awarded the 2021 Sustainability award by Atlantic Printing. We are actively working to continuing our efforts in improving our carbon footprint in the coming years. During 2021:
